Ephs Complete Another Late Comeback in OT Win Versus Albertus

Williamstown, MA – For the second consecutive game, the Williams College Ephs (4-8-1) found themselves down late to the Albertus Magnus Falcons (13-5-0). After a late tying goal, Nick Rashkovsky would score on a wrap around goal in OT to send the Ephs home happy awith a 3-2 win.

The Ephs would begin the game fighting from behind as a turnover in their own zone would come back to haunt them. The Falcons lead would not last long, however, as Jonah Gold continued his blazing form by finding the back of the net on a deflection.

The Ephs would slow as the second period wore on and Eph netminder Cal Sandquist was called upon multiple times. He would stand tall throughout the game, making a combined 29 saves during the contest.

As the third period opened, both teams were battling at full intensity trying to edge their noses in front. After a won draw in the offensive zone, the Ephs would concede possession and the Falcons would rush down the ice. After a nice kick save from Sandquist, the puck would squirt to a loose Albertus player, and they would take the lead with just 2:45 remaining.

Williams was hungry for the equalizer as the clock wound down, so they pulled their goaltender and opted for the 6th skater. Connor Berg would slide the puck down to Henry Muller who fired it in front to Jonah Gold. After a few swipes at the puck, Gold would finally connect to bury his second of the game with just 52 seconds remaining. This now makes back-to-back contests in which the gamble has paid off, a real momentum shift for this team.

Williams entered overtime for the fourth game this season, and the 3v3 battle ensued. Back and forth the two teams teased out plays with Williams the more threatening of the two. Eventually, the puck would find the stick of Rashkovsky off a feed from Jared Lambright and he barreled towards the net. With a quick head feint, he sent the goalie swimming and made a tight move around the net to find a hole past the Albertus netminder.

Coach Kangas had this to say after the game regarding the comeback; "The team has shown great resilience in the last few games. They have built on the previous weekend and continue to play better, playing a complete 200-foot game is difficult to compete with. Cal looked great in net and the team is looking to use this momentum as we head to Plattsburgh tomorrow."

The Ephs have finally broken the winless streak and look to continue their winning ways tomorrow at 7 PM at SUNY Plattsburgh.
