Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Williams falls 2-1 to #4 Plattsburgh State

Williamstown, MA - Williams College (9-7-0, 4-6-0 NESCAC) falls 2-1 to #4 Plattsburgh State (15-2-0, 10-1-0 NEWHL) in a very close game.

Game Highlights

- A back and forth first period saw chances at both ends. Williams received a penalty for slashing, giving Plattsburgh a power play. There was a hand pass to a goal in front of the net and after referee deliberation it was decided that Plattsburgh had scored giving them a 1-0 advantage, 11:57 into the first.

- Plattsburgh struck again 5:00 into the second period by scoring on a screened shot from the outside of the left circle into the top shelf of the net, extending their lead to 2-0 over Williams.

- Williams' Maddie Tix quickly came back to score 11:47 into the second by skillfully maneuvering the puck down center ice, deking around all five Plattsburgh skaters, creating an opportunity at the faceoff dot to shoot from. She buried the puck top shelf short side behind Plattsburgh goalie Lilla Nease, halving Plattsburgh's lead to 2-1.

- On two more rush attempts Maddie Tix was very close to tying the game; once generating a breakaway, shooting and hitting the post, and on another she forced a turnover, skated the puck back across center ice, and hit the crossbar with her shot.

By the Numbers

- Williams goalie Amanda Lackmann led in saves tonight blocking 51 shots on goal letting in 2, Plattsburgh Lilla Nease made 23 saves missing 1

- Plattsburgh was able to take advantage of the power play, going 1-2, but Williams was unable to do the same going 0-3
