Williamstown, MA — Another scoreless first period would see the Williams College Ephs (6-11-1, 4-7-1) tied with the Connecticut College Camels (2-15-0, 0-12-0). A second period full of penalties went the Ephs way as
Ben Lawrick would open the scoring, and a third-period burst would help Williams win 4-0.
Hungry for an Alumni Weekend sweep, the Ephs looked to capitalize early against the Connecticut College defense. Quick passing and streaking forwards were rewarded as Williams found themselves with several breakaways early on. On each occasion, however, the Conn netminder held strong as the Camels were outshot 12-10 in the opening frame. At the other end, Evan Ruschil was called upon a fair amount and held the door shut as the first period ended scoreless.
The Ephs continued to sustain pressure on the Camels, executing long stretches of the game without conceding a shot. After a few failed power play attempts in the second, the Ephs looked to score on their third attempt of the frame. Sean Clarke found Ben Lawrick wide open in the slot, who wired a puck through the Camels netminder to open the scoring. Williams would pour on the pressure as the period wound down, outshooting Conn 17-8 but only with one goal to show for it.
The third period proved to be pivotal for the Ephs as Ruschil would be tested early and often. The senior would stop each attempt that came his way, allowing for the Ephs to strike next. On a delayed penalty, the Ephs surged up the ice looking to pounce. Henry Muller would drive the net hard and find Jonah Gold in front who buried his team-leading 10th goal of the year. It would take only 15 seconds on the ensuing powerplay for the Ephs to score again as Gold found Mac Carso back door to extend the lead to three. Just a few minutes later, Gold and Muller would connect again to find Nick Rashkovsky backdoor to seal the Camels' fate.
The Alumni are able to go home happy after a dominant performance this weekend, and we thank them for their continued support and love towards the program. The Ephs will look to keep rolling on the road as they face Trinity next Friday.
