Ephs Down the Continentals 4-1 on the Road

CLINTON, NY. - The Williams College Ephs (8-4, 5-2 NESCAC) bounced back from their tough loss last weekend to get a 4-1 road win over the Hamilton College Continentals (7-6, 3-6 NESCAC).

At the 18:30 mark, senior Molly Hellman found the back of the net to give the Ephs a 1-0 lead over the Continentals. 35 seconds later, Hellman once again found the back of the net, this time with a pass from senior Elizabeth Scarcella to put the Ephs up 2-0. Off a penalty corner insertion from Hellman, sophomore Pilar Torres launched a rocket into the bottom right of the goal, providing the Ephs a 3-0 lead at the half.

1:02 into the second half, Delaney Grace got one back for the Continentals to make it 3-1. Scarcella sealed the 4-1 win with a goal from the penalty spot at the 40:36 mark.

On the night, the Ephs outshot the Continentals 9-4. Williams struck 7 of those sjots on goal with Hamilton striking 3 shots on goal.

"We played hard for 60 minutes," stated Eph head coach Alix Barrale after the game. "We were able to convert in front of the net tonight. Hamilton was fast and put a lot of pressure on us. We fought through it and earned the win."

Up next for Williams are the Trinity College Bantams. The Ephs will take on the Bantams on Saturday, Oct. 21st, at 1 pm on Williamson Field. The contest will also honor seniors Elizabeth Scarcella, Molly Hellman, Payton Ahola, Jacqui Sandor, and Gates Tenerowicz for their contributions to Williams Field Hockey over the years.
