BALTIMORE, MD. - Salisbury's Ramsey Coffman's penalty stroke goal in overtime was enough to send the Sea Gulls into the Elite Eight and end the season for the Williams College Ephs with a final scoreline of 1-0.
Despite both teams creating opportunities, the Ephs and the Sea Gulls were in a deadlock at the half. The Ephs out shot the Sea Gulls 6-2.
At the 36:42 mark, senior Gates Tenerowicz made a crucial save to deny Salisbury's Marli McDorman from the penalty spot and keep the game scoreless.
The game remained scoreless through regulation time.
Tenerowicz came up big once again, this time denying Isabel Larrabee with her left hand from a penalty corner opportunity 56 seconds into overtime. Ramsey Coffman broke the deadlock at the 67:08 mark after converting from the penalty spot, sending the Salisbury Sea Gulls into the Elite Eight.
On the day, the Ephs out shot the Sea Gulls 10-6. Williams struck 2 of their shots on goal. Salisbury struck 5 of their 6 shots on goal. Tenerowicz made 4 crucial saves to keep Williams in it up until the very end.
"So incredibly proud of this team," stated Eph head coach Alix Barrale after the game. "We outplayed them, out shot them, out cornered them but came up short in the end. The ref's decision to call a stroke is really hard to reconcile considering the magnitude of the game, especially when playing on the national stage. We will hold our heads high."
The Williams College Ephs end their season with a 12-8 record and a NESCAC Finals appearance for the first time since 2005.
