Ephs Top Bowdoin 8-1 in NESCAC Quarterfinals

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – This afternoon, the Williams women's squash team took down Bowdoin in the quarterfinals of the NESCAC Championships. Back in January, the Ephs had 7-2 win against this team and today, they came back even stronger. The Ephs' dominating performance left them with an 8-1 victory.

Today's match followed the 5-court system. Despite being spread out, the team and their fans found a way to bring energy to each match. #2 Quan Ng put the first point on the board today. She maintained her focus through two tough games to take a 2-0 lead before her opponent retired due to injury in the third. #6 Roshni locked into a battle with her Polar Bear competitor. She dropped two close games but continued to fight and move the ball around. Unfortunately, she lost the third in an unlucky 12-10.

#7 Nora Brant grabbed the next point for Williams. She focused on keeping the ball tight down the left wall to secure the first game and then the second 16-14 before closing out the match 3-0. At the same time, #4 Amanda Solecki was locked in. Despite losing the first game 15-13, she didn't give up. She came back to win the second 11-3 and eventually secure a 3-1 victory. #9 Nikita Srivastava won 3-1 as well. She dominated games 1 and 2, and although the captain had a small lapse in the third, she refocused to defeat Bowdoin in the fourth.

#5 Deena Iqbal was the first of the second round to finish her match. The young Eph showed athleticism and skill as she took down her opponent in 3 intense games. This secured the team's win for the day. At the same time, 3 more Ephs swept the Polar Bears. #8 Mira Kamat never lost control and had a skillful 3-0 win. #1 Haley Jefferson dominated on top court. She managed to keep her opponent to only 10 points in the entire match. Finally, #3 Theresa Kay had an impressive performance. She took the first, powered through the second to win 16-14, and had some very skillful shots in the 3rd to wrap up the victory.

The Ephs move on to the semifinals where they will take on Tufts. Come support the team tomorrow at 9 am!
