Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Williams Beat #4 Amherst 2-1

Williamstown MA- Williams College (11-11-0, 6-8-0 NESCAC) beats #1 NESCAC seed and #4 nationally ranked Amherst College (21-3-0, 13-3-0 NESCAC) with the first goal of the game setting the tone of the match and a second in the second securing their win.

Game Highlights
- At 17:39 into the first Williams captain Delaney Szlezyngier scored the first goal of the game. She skated the puck from center ice into the Amherst zone, made a nice 1v1 move past the D and shot it. It was barely blocked by Natalie Stott making the rebound loose in the crease, she successfully shot it into the back of the net giving Williams the 1-0 lead.

- A few seconds later at 17:48, Amherst came back to even the score 1-1 by scoring from inside the left circle.

- Early into the second period at 3:01, Ellia Chiang was quick to free the puck from the boards behind Amherst goal, passing it to Maddie Tix who shot it from the right circle into the topshelf of the goal giving the Ephs the lead again 2-1.

- The Mammoths received a penalty for tripping and the Ephs worked hard to make the most of it during the last two minutes of the second period. Chiang took a slapshot hitting the pipe nearly extending the Williams lead and Christina Halloran almost had the rebound before it was covered up by Stott.

- Amherst called a timeout and pulled for the extra attacker 6v5 but Pye and the Ephs stood strong.

By the Numbers
- Williams defense was strong tonight forcing Amherst to go 0-4 on the power play. The Ephs were also unable to convert on their power play going 0-1.

- Williams Erin Pye dominated tonight's game making an unbelievable 44  saves letting in only 1 goal, Amherst Natalie Stott made 20 saves letting in 2.
