Streaky Game Ends in Favor of the Visiting Ephs in 11-10 Win Over Babson

Wellesley, MA– After a late trip to Tufts this weekend, Williams College (6-4) headed down to Boston again to faceoff with Babson College (7-3). After a slow start in the first period, Williams College's men's lacrosse team rallied back in a big way against Babson College to win 11-10 in a thrilling match.

Williams would get off on the wrong foot at Babson today, conceding the opening the four goals of the contest. Calvin Caputo got Williams on the board with a man-up goal at the 2:36 mark of the first period, assisted by Will Doran. Cade Schuckman added another goal for Williams less than a minute later, assisted by Ben Wilen to end the quarter down 4-2. 

The Ephs would stay hungry and came out strong in the second period, with Owen Roegge scoring an unassisted goal to cut the lead to 4-3. Caputo tied the game at 4-4 with another unassisted goal, and Adam Figler and Caputo added two more goals for Williams to give them a 6-4 lead late in the second period. Six unanswered goals heading into the half would give Williams a massive confidence boost up 6-5 following a last minute Babson goal.

In the third period, Jesse Shapiro got Williams off to a another hot start with a man-up goal, assisted by Nick Bates, to retake their lead at 7-6. Ryan Johnson would add to the Williams run before Shapiro scored two more goals, including a man-up goal, in the final minute of the period to complete his hat trick and give Williams a commanding 10-6 lead.

Babson made a valiant effort to come back in the fourth period, scoring four unanswered to tie up the game. Nick Bates capitalized on a man-up goal for Williams to give the Ephs an 11-10 lead, which they were able to maintain until the end of the game. 

Williams will head back home to face Hamilton at 5 PM on Wednesday.
