Ephs Sweep Hamilton in First Home Games of Season

WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS – The Williams College Softball team (7-9/3-1 NESCAC) welcomed Hamilton for a doubleheader today. The Ephs won the first game 5-0, with an impressive performance by first-year pitcher
Sadie Leonard who had a total of 14 strikeouts. The Ephs won the second game 10-4, and the winning pitcher was
Elyse Chan.

In the first game, the Ephs started strong with three runs in the first inning. Taylor Wise and
Kayla Chang both scored thanks to Kelly McGuigan's single to left field, and McGuigan earned the final run of the inning when
Adhya Tandon reached first on a wild pitch.
Sydney Fleming's 3rd inning home run provided the next two runs, bringing
Kayla Chang home from her double to left center.

The second game started off equally impressively for the Ephs as McGuigan, Chang, and Wise all scored when Fleming hit her second home run of the day, a grand slam, in the 1st inning, making the score to 4-0.

Hamilton scored their first runs of the day in the 3rd, but the Ephs closed out the inning with Chang, McGuigan and Fleming scoring once again.

Though they gave up two runs to Hamilton in the 5th, the Ephs brought their total to 10 runs when
Savannah Slater and Ronnie Ramos scored thanks to a homer by Aly Granados (her first career home run) in the 6th, ending an impressive doubleheader.

"It was a great team day," said Eph head coach
Kris Herman. "NESCAC wins are always great, and it's been so long since we played that it felt good on many counts." She also commented on the strong showing of the senior class. "They led us. Aly Granados '23 hit her first career home run and classmates
Bailey Burger-Moore and
Adhya Tandon both had strong showings at the plate and in the field." On today's pitching, she noted, "Both pitchers
Elyse Chan '25 and
Sadie Leonard '26 were outstanding on the mound."

Next up for the Ephs is a doubleheader at home vs. Smith Wednesday on Cole Field at 3:30 PM.
