WORCESTER, MA – The Williams Women's Swim and Dive team traveled to Worcester, MA to take on Tufts, WPI, and Trinity in a Quad meet. The Ephwomen walked away with three more wins under their belt, extending the dual meet win streak to 140 wins.
The meet kicked off with the 200 medley relay. The Williams A, B, C, and D relay all took on the second heat. The middle of the pool was a tight race against Tufts A, Williams A/B, and Trinity A relay. In the A relay,
Sophia Verkleeren blasted off a full body lead backstroke leg with a 26.22.
Charlotte Wishnack kept the lead with a 29.78 breaststroke leg.
Brielle Gold swam a strong fly leg in a 26.29.
Emma Dimter hung on but got edged out by Tuft's Jillian Cudney by one tenth of a second. They touched second. The B relay was not far behind with
Irene Yang (27.16),
Bernadette Ramoy (29.91),
Clare McDermott (26.42), and
Zora Vujovic (24.02) touching 4th. The Williams C (
Aly Eward,
Issy Hiller,
Amy Zhao,
Isabel Espinosa) and D relay (
Alden White,
Ruby Groves,
Liz Ramoy,
Azmera Gebre) touched 8th and 9th respectively.
Next, the distance trio of
Lily Codd,
Kyla Kelley, and
Gracie O'Connell took on the 1000 freestyle.
Lily Codd stayed strong in the second position of the heat, as well as
Kyla Kelley in the third position. Codd led the charge for Williams, touching 2nd in a 10:42.20 and Kelley touched 3rd in a 10:52.29. O'Connell finished 5th in 11:03.09 as well.
In the 200 freestyle,
Isabel Espinosa,
Carter Roebuck, and
Clementine Robins took the blocks in lanes next to each other. Roebuck took it out fast, and kept her lead to take the event win in 1:54.05. Robins was right with her touching third in a 1:55.45. The freshman Espinosa also had a strong race finishing 4th in a 1:55.55.
In the first 100 event of the meet, the 100 backstroke, backstroker
Sophia Verkleeren blasted to the wall touching first in a 55.82.
Irene Yang,
Alden White, and
Aly Eward finished right behind her, finishing 4th (58.62), 7th (59.98), and 11th (1:00.89) respectively.
Next, in the 100 breaststroke,
Charlotte Wishnack had a tight race against Tuft's Quincy Wheeler but managed to hold her off, touching first in a 1:05.57.
Bernadette Ramoy also had a stellar swim, touching third after those two in a 1:06.60.
Issy Hiller and
Brielle Gold finished 6th and 10th respectively in a 1:08.87 and 1:10.26.
The trio of
Ruby Groves,
Abi Greenberg, and
Gracie O'Connell took the blocks for the 200 butterfly. Groves and Greenberg worked both their back halves touching 2-3 in a 2:09.71 and 2:10.71 respectively. O'Connelle finished 7th in 2:12.65.
Before the first break, the 50 freestyle took place.
Liz Ramoy blasted in the first heat in a season best 25.27. In the second heat,
Azmera Gebre took the heat win in a 25.32 with
Amy Zhao not too behind in a 25.99. In the final heat,
Zora Vujovic took second in a 24.53.
Emma Dimter took 5th in a 24.94 and
Clare McDermott 11th overall in a 25.29.
After the break, the freshman,
Azmera Gebre took the second heat of the 100 freestyle, touching first in a 54.73. In the final heat,
Carter Roebuck blasted a 52.68 to touch first.
Isabel Espinosa and
Zora Vujovic had themselves fast swims as well touching 4-5 in a 54.22 and 54.24 respectively.
In the 200 backstroke,
Aly Eward and
Kyla Kelley took the second heat and finished 3-1 respectively in a 2:12.80 and 2:12.38. In the last heat,
Sophia Verkleeren gapped the competition and touched first in a 2:00.34.
Irene Yang and
Alden White finished 4th (2:07.87) and 5th (2:08.42) as well.
The breaststroke trio of
Charlotte Wishnack,
Carter Roebuck, and
Issy Hiller took the final heat of the 200 breaststroke finishing 1-2-5 in a 2:21.27, 2:24.59, and 2:28.68 respectively.
Next, the distance duo of
Lily Codd and
Clementine Robins raced the 500 freestyle. Robins swam two a strong 2nd place finish in a 5:10.08. Codd finished 3rd right behind her in a 5:16.74.
In the 100 butterfly, the second heat was dominated by
Clare McDermott,
Amy Zhao,
Liz Ramoy, and
Gracie O'Connell. McDermott dipped under the 1:00 barrier in a 59.67. Zhao swam a 1:00.33 in a season best. In the final heat,
Bernadette Ramoy, blazed a 58.15 winning the event.
Ruby Groves finished 4th fright behind her in a 59.07.
In the final individual event,
Abi Greenberg and
Sophia Verkleeren took the blocks for the 400 individual medley. Verkleeren led the pack and touched first in a 4:25.69 and Greenberg had a stellar back half touching second in a 4:38.79.
The Ephwomen diving squad of
Adelaide Herman,
Ashley Loh, and
Lucy Savarese competed on the 1 meter and 3 meter boards today. On 1 meter, Herman stunned the crowd with a stellar front two and a half tuck, ultimately scoring 248.55 points and taking 1st. Savarese placed 2nd with 241.35 points and Loh placed 5th with 219.60 points. On 3 meter, Herman, Loh, and Savarese 1-2-3 the competition with 241.40, 237.90, and 231 points respectively.
The final event of the meet was the 200 freestyle relay. The Williams A relay had a solid race but fell to the Tufts A, placing 2nd (
Emma Dimter, Zorak Vujovic,
Irene Yang,
Carter Roebuck). The B relay touched 4th (
Isabel Espinosa,
Amy Zhao,
Clare McDermott,
Bernadette Ramoy). The C and D relay place 9th and 10th respectively.

The Ephwomen look ahead to compete at the WPI again at the Gompei Invitational on December 6-7.
