The Short Story:
Today, the Ephs defeated their arch rival the Amherst Mammoths in their doubleheader at Amherst. Pitchers Sadie Leonard and Katie Blanch effectively shut down the Mammoths' offense, allowing them to score only once in two games. Leonard impressed with a complete game, delivering ten strikeouts and yielding only two hits, while Blanch also turned in a solid performance, keeping Amherst to a solitary run.
On offense, Sydney Fleming stood out with two home runs, fueling the Ephs' scoring. Other significant contributors included Vicky Trujillo Balderas, who ignited several scoring opportunities with crucial hits; Ronni Ramos, who delivered vital RBIs; and Kayla Chang, whose triple in game two and consistent batting throughout the two games kept the offensive momentum going for Williams. Tayler Wise also made notable contributions with her timely hitting and aggressive base running, amplifying the Ephs' offensive threat throughout the day.

Sadie Leonard displayed strong pitching throughout all seven innings, dominating the strike zone with ten strikeouts and allowing only two hits.

In the top of the third inning, Vicky Trujillo Balderas scored the first run for the Ephs. The team's offense began with Balderas hitting a single to center field, setting the stage for a potential scoring opportunity. Kayla Chang executed a sacrifice bunt, allowing Balderas to advance to second. Ronnie Ramos then hit a single to right field, driving Balderas home.

The Ephs extended their lead significantly in the top of the seventh inning. The inning started with Vicky Trujillo Balderas singling to left field; Sydney Miller entered the game to pinch run for Balderas. Miller advanced to second on a ground out by Kayla Chang. Tayler Wise then singled and advanced to second, moving Miller to third. Ronni Ramos then delivered a double to center field, making the lead 3-0. On the next play, Ramos advanced to third, positioning herself to score on Kelly McGuigan's double to center field, bringing the score to 4-0.

Katie Blanch pitched well, keeping Amherst scoring at bay and allowing only one run in the seven innings she pitched.

Kayla Chang scored first for the Ephs in the top of the second inning. Chang hit a triple to right center field. Tayler Wise capitalized on this chance, hitting a single to left field, driving in Chang and putting Williams ahead 1-0.

The Ephs increased their lead the following inning with a timely home run by Sydney Fleming. Kelly McGuigan began the offensive charge, hitting a single to left field. Sydney Fleming then stepped up to the plate and hit a two-run homer to left center, making the score 3-0.

In the fifth inning, the team effectively used a combination of strategic hitting and capitalized Amherst errors to extend their lead further over the Mammoths. Katie Blanch initiated the scoring sequence with a single to center field. Alysa DeQuiroz followed up with a sacrifice bunt, successfully advancing Blanch to second. Vicky Trujillo Balderas then singled to right center. An error by the center fielder on the throw allowed Balderas to drive Blanch home for an RBI and advance to second. Kaia Glickman then grounded out to shortstop, allowing Balderas to advance to third. Tayler Wise kept the offensive momentum going by singling and showcasing aggressive base running by stealing second and then advancing to third on a wild pitch. This same wild pitch allowed Balderas to score, pushing the lead to 5-0.

Sydney Fleming scored the final run of the game for the Ephs in the top of the sixth inning with a homer to left field!

The Mammoths' sole run came in the bottom of the sixth inning. After a single to right field, the runner advanced to second and then third on a wild pitch. A walk, then put runners on the corners. A fielder's choice allowed the runner from third to score.
