Williams Baseball Caps Season with 14-12 Win Over Hartford

Hartford, CT - Williams College ended its baseball season on a high note, securing a 14-12 victory over the University of Hartford in an intense game.

The action kicked off in the first inning when Jake Santiago hit a two-run homer, bringing home John Kaplan to put Hartford ahead early. Williams scored a single run in the second inning as Owen McHugh secured an RBI that scored Marcus Burrell. Hartford added two more runs in the bottom of the second inning after Jackson Ciccone singled to right field, driving in Cameron Boardman and Zaynn Godbee to make it a 4-1 game.

Mike Giove's crucial double in the third inning drove in Henry Juan and Brendan Stannard, narrowing the gap to 4-3. However, Hartford responded robustly with Tyler Shannon's solo home run in the fourth, and subsequent hits by Kaplan and West extended their lead further to 7-3.

Williams began their comeback in earnest in the fifth inning. After a fielding error allowed Giove to reach first, scoring Henry Juan, McHugh's two-RBI single brought in Will Scott and Burrell. Alex Rocha then delivered a pivotal double that cleared the bases, bringing in three runs and putting Williams ahead for the first time at 9-7.

Mike Giove followed with a home run to give Williams the three-run lead. Hartford's Santiago responded with a double that scored Ciccone. 

Will Scott added another home run for Williams before Hartford added four runs in the bottom of the seventh, giving Hartford the 12-11 lead heading into the eighth.

From that point on, the game was all William Brendan Stannard and Juan added two runs in the eighth and Owen McHugh added the last score of the game in the ninth.

The Williams College Baseball team ended the season with a 10-22 record.
