The Short Story:
The third-seeded Ephs defeated sixth-seeded Hamilton in the opening round of the NESCAC tournament. Katie Blanch had a stellar performance in the circle, pitching a complete game shutout. Blanch along with Tayler Wise, Ronni Ramos, Vicky Trujillo Balderas, and Kayla Chang contributed to the Ephs offensive power, propelling the team to a 4-0 victory. The win allowed the Ephs to advance to the NESCAC Semi-finals, which are set to take place later today at Tufts University's Spicer Field.

"Katie Blanch pitched great and was on base all 3 times. We got out of a jam in the first inning and then were able to string a few hits together. We look forward to the semi-finals this afternoon against a strong Bowdoin team, " said Eph head coach Kris Herman

Katie Blanch pitched seven scoreless innings for the Ephs. Blanch recorded 9 strikeouts, the most strikeouts she's in a single game all year, and allowed only 4 hits and 2 walks.

Vicky Trujillo Balderas scored the first run of the game for the Ephs in the bottom of the second inning. Balderas led off with a walk and eventually scored on an RBI single to right field by Katie Blanch.

Katie Blanch scored in the bottom of the fourth inning. Blanch hit a single up the middle, and stole second, setting up a prime scoring position for the Ephs. Tayler Wise capitalized on this opportunity and drove Blanch home with a double down the right field line, making the score 2-0 in the Ephs favor.

The Ephs extended their lead in the bottom of the sixth inning. Ronni Ramos singled and scored on a 2 RBI single by Kayla Chang that also allowed Katie Blanch, who had reached earlier on a fielder's choice, to score.
