Amherst, MA- In the semifinal of the NESCAC Tournament, the Ephs took on Tufts in a rematch of the NESCAC semis two years ago. The match started very even, as Tufts won on three doubles and Williams won on one. The doubles advantage would come down to the second court, where Tufts eventually prevailed 8-6, amid some fine tennis.
In singles play,
Simon Volkema needed just 47 minutes to post a 6-4, 6-1 victory. With the match tied at 2-2, it was a race to three more wins. Unfortunately, Tufts would win the next three matches in straight sets, ending the overall match and closing out Williams' regular season. The Ephs hope to receive a bid to the NCAA tournament starting next week.
