Ephs Narrowly Defeated by Bantams 1-0 on Senior Day

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA - The Williams College Ephs (7-6-0, 1-5-0 NESCAC) faced off against the Trinity College Bantams(8-6-0, 6-2-0 NESCAC) in the second leg of a back-to-back weekend that commemorated the six Eph seniors during Senior Day: senior captain Quinn Dawson, Anna DiChristina, Katie Armstrong, Sophia Hoppe, Maddie Zack, and Amanda Lackmann. Despite the game being neck and neck, the Bantams pulled away during the third period and secured a 1-0 win. 

By the Numbers

  • The Ephs were 0/3 on the power play while the Bantams were 0/6.
  • The Ephs recorded 20 shots on the goal, while the Bantams recorded 34 shots on goal. 
  • Senior goaltender Amanda Lackmann recorded 33 saves in net.

Game Recap

  • The first period was riddled with power plays, with both sides having two apiece. Both teams struggled to find offensive success, and the period ended 0-0. 
  • The second period was more of the same, with both teams going 0/2 on the power play during the period.
  • Trinity ended the period on fire, recording 15 shots in the last seven minutes. 
  • With the game tied up at 0-0, Trinity's Jenny Guider buried a goal to take a 1-0 lead. 
  • The Ephs pulled Lackmann in the final minute in a comeback effort, but it fell short, and the Bantams secured the win. 

Eph head coach Meghan Gillis stated after the game, "I think the focus will be learning how to get to the middle of the ice and defend through the neutral zone."

The Ephs will continue conference play on Friday, January 24th at 7:00 PM, with a home game against Colby College.
