WILLIAMSTOWN, MA—The Ephwomen hosted Connecticut College at the Samuelson-Muir Pool on January 18, 2025, for their second dual meet. This was also the senior meet for the ephwomen highlighting
Adelaide Herman,
Liz Ramoy,
Rika Yahashiri,
Sophia Verkleeren,
Charlotte Wishnack,
Zora Vujovic, and
Issy Hiller. Williams dominated from start to finish, earning a decisive victory with a final score of 212–76.
The meet began with a commanding performance in the 200-yard medley relay. The A relay team of
Irene Yang,
Liz Ramoy,
Sophia Verkleeren, and
Charlotte Wishnack clocked a winning time of 1:50.16. The B relay, featuring
Aly Eward,
Rika Yahashiri,
Amy Zhao, and
Clare McDermott, followed closely behind in second at 1:50.44.
In the 1000-yard freestyle, sophomore
Carter Roebuck claimed victory with a time of 10:37.04, leading a 1-2 finish for Williams as first-year
Isabel Espinosa touched second in 10:48.35. Junior
Gracie O'Connell rounded out the scoring with a strong third-place finish in 10:59.73.
The Ephwomen continued their dominance in the 200-yard freestyle, where junior
Lily Codd finished first with a time of 1:57.44. Sophomore
Bernadette Ramoy placed second in 1:58.88, and sophomore Abigail Greenberg completed the Williams sweep, finishing third in 1:59.73.
Backstrokers made a splash in the 100-yard backstroke. Sophomore
Clementine Robins swam a stellar 57.86 to secure the win. Senior
Zora Vujovic and junior
Ruby Groves placed fifth and sixth, respectively, adding valuable points for the Ephs.
In the 100-yard breaststroke, senior Isabelle Hiller tied for second with a time of 1:09.41, while sophomore
Alden White finished fourth in 1:10.03. Senior Elizabeth Ramoy rounded out the Williams scorers in fifth with a time of 1:11.80.
The butterfly events were another showcase of Williams' depth. Senior
Sophia Verkleeren claimed a decisive victory in the 200-yard butterfly, finishing in 2:05.30, a commanding six seconds ahead of second place. First-year
Clare McDermott touched third in 2:14.68, while junior
Irene Yang finished fourth in 2:16.02.
The shortest event of the meet, the 50-yard freestyle, saw Roebuck return to claim her second individual victory of the day, finishing in 24.73. Senior
Charlotte Wishnack placed third in 25.42, and senior
Amy Zhao was fourth in 25.45.
The Ephwomen divers contributed strong performances during the 1-meter competition although no women's divers from Connecticut College competed in the meet today. Senior
Adelaide Herman led the team, finishing first with a score of 250.05, while sophomore
Ashley Loh placed second with a score of 236.10.
After the break, the 100-yard freestyle saw Yang step up to win her first individual event of the meet, clocking 54.77. Sophomore
Alden White placed third in 55.74, with sophomore
Clementine Robins taking fifth in 56.36.
In the 200-yard backstroke, junior
Lily Codd swam a season-best 2:08.49 to take first place. Junior
Gracie O'Connell placed third in 2:12.90, adding to Williams' tally.
The breaststrokers returned for the 200-yard breaststroke, where Verkleeren picked up her second win of the day in 2:23.97. Roebuck followed in second with a time of 2:24.67. Junior
Ruby Groves tied for third in 2:30.28 with Connecticut College's Ella Behling, demonstrating the Ephs' depth in this event.
In the 500-yard freestyle, sophomore Abigail Greenberg secured another victory, finishing first with a time of 5:17.77. First-year
Azmera Gebre claimed third in 5:21.81, rounding out the scoring in the distance freestyle events.
The 100-yard butterfly saw sophomore
Bernadette Ramoy take first place with a time of 59.47. First-year
Isabel Espinosa placed third in 1:00.42, with senior
Amy Zhao finishing fourth in 1:00.45.
The Ephwomen divers returned for the 3-meter competition. Loh impressed with her dives, scoring 283.28 to take first place, while Herman finished second with 259.35 points.
In the 200-yard individual medley, Wishnack secured a decisive victory, finishing in 2:10.70. Sophomore
Alden White placed second in 2:12.66, and senior
Issy Hiller added a sixth-place finish with a time of 2:20.21.
The meet concluded with the 200-yard freestyle relay. The A relay team of
Zora Vujovic,
Rika Yahashiri,
Amy Zhao, and
Sophia Verkleeren delivered a victory, finishing first in 1:39.86. The B relay team of
Aly Eward,
Maddy Wu,
Emma Dimter, and
Clare McDermott placed second in 1:40.14, sealing Williams' dominant performance.
The Ephwomen will look to carry this momentum into the rest of the season as they prepare for their last home meet next Saturday (1/25/2025) and into championship season.
