WILLIAMSTOWN, MA—The Williams Swim and Dive Ephwomen hosted Middlebury College and Hamilton College at the Samuelson-Muir Pool on January 25, 2025, in a thrilling tri-meet. This was also the third annual pride meet and the last dual meet of the season. The Ephwomen demonstrated exceptional depth and teamwork across all events, earning numerous victories and season bests as they prepare for their championship season.
The meet kicked off with an electrifying 200-yard medley relay, where the A relay team of
Sophia Verkleeren (26.64),
Charlotte Wishnack (29.67),
Clare McDermott (26.30), and
Carter Roebuck (23.48) clinched first place with a time of 1:46.09. The B relay team of
Alden White (27.99),
Annika Chu (30.24),
Zora Vujovic (27.06), and
Irene Yang (24.49) secured second in 1:49.78.
In the grueling 1000-yard freestyle,
Isabel Espinosa finished second in 10:48.10, followed closely by
Clementine Robins in third at 10:49.76.
Kyla Kelley rounded out the top five with a time of 10:55.59, earning crucial points for the Ephs.
The Ephwomen excelled in the 200-yard freestyle, as junior
Lily Codd claimed victory in 1:56.18.
Emma Dimter added a strong third-place finish in 1:59.33.
In the 50-yard backstroke,
Aly Eward blasted to the finish in a 27.93 touching second. First-year Clar McDermott touched fifth in a 28.72.
The 50-yard breaststroke highlighted the strength and depth of the Ephwomen's breaststrokers. First-year
Annika Chu delivered an outstanding performance, claiming victory with a time of 31.09. Sophomore
Carter Roebuck followed closely in second, finishing in 31.18. Junior
Brielle Gold added to the scoring effort, placing fourth with a time of 32.12.
The Ephwomen excelled in the 100-yard butterfly, with senior
Charlotte Wishnack leading the charge. Wishnack secured first place with a time of 1:00.20, narrowly out-touching the competition. Senior
Zora Vujovic placed sixth with a time of 1:01.46, and junior
Gracie O'Connell followed closely in eighth, finishing in 1:01.66.
The Ephwomen dominated in the 50-yard freestyle, with sophomore
Bernadette Ramoy leading the team to a second-place finish in 24.57. Junior
Irene Yang followed closely in third with a time of 24.89, while senior Elizabeth Ramoy rounded out the Williams scorers in seventh with a time of 26.01.
The diving competition began on the 1-meter board, where senior
Adelaide Herman led the Ephwomen to a sweep, earning first place with 260.65 points. Freshman
Lucy Savarese (226.00) and sophomore
Ashley Loh (224.25) completed the top three.
The Ephwomen delivered strong performances in the 100-yard freestyle, with sophomore
Bernadette Ramoy leading the charge to victory in 54.00. Junior
Irene Yang claimed second place with a time of 54.66, and junior
Aly Eward rounded out the top three for Williams, finishing in 55.11.
Sophomore
Clementine Robins delivered a stellar performance in the 100-yard backstroke, touching first in 58.00.
Kyla Kelley placed eighth (1:02.10) and
Clare McDermott placed ninth with a time of 1:02.44.
In the 100-yard breaststroke, first-year
Annika Chu led the field with a winning time of 1:07.34.
Carter Roebuck placed second in 1:08.07, and
Ruby Groves rounded out the top five in 1:11.12.
The Ephwomen excelled in the 500-yard freestyle, with senior
Sophia Verkleeren delivering a commanding victory in 5:05.02. Junior
Gracie O'Connell followed with a strong second-place finish, clocking 5:18.42. Senior
Issy Hiller rounded out the Williams scoring, placing 11th in 5:43.57.
In the 50-yard butterfly, the Ephwomen had a 3-4-5 finish with
Brielle Gold (26.93),
Maddy Wu (26.96), and
Charlotte Wishnack (27.05) respectively.
In the 3-meter diving,
Adelaide Herman debuted her 107C, and officially became one of just three women divers to compete this dive in Division 3. She came away with the win scoring a total of 282.75 points. Loh finished second with 241.80 points and Savarese finished third with 218.25 points.
The last individual event was the 100-yard individual medley.
Sophia Verkleeren took her third individual title of the meet winning the event in a new school record of 58.03.
Irene Yang finished second (1:00.51) and
Charlotte Wishnack finished third (1:00.62).
The meet concluded with an exceptional performance in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The A relay team of
Sophia Verkleeren (24.88),
Zora Vujovic (24.28),
Carter Roebuck (24.34), and
Bernadette Ramoy (23.81) secured the win in 1:37.31. The B relay team of
Clare McDermott (25.00),
Liz Ramoy (25.64),
Amy Zhao (25.45), and
Emma Dimter (24.20) finished fourth in 1:40.29, capping off a dominant day for Williams.
"There was a lot to celebrate today—our pride meet, our senior's last time competing at home, and 2 wins," Assistant Coach
Allie Clark said. "It was a feel good end to our dual meet season. Now we are looking forward to kicking off our championship season on Friday at the Middlebury Invite!"
The Ephwomen will begin their championship season starting next Friday at the Middlebury Invitational.
