Game Recap

- The Ephs took the lead early thanks to a goal by junior captain Leah Rubinshteyn (3:08).

- The Ephs' first power play chance of the new year was a fruitful one: Annie Gallagher passed the puck to Claire Murphy for her second assist of the game and Murphy's first goal, putting the Ephs up 2-0 (3:47) early into the second period.

Just fifteen seconds later, Chloe Noxon collected a rebound of a missed shot and netted a goal to generate a commanding 3-0 lead over the Bantams (4:02).

- The Bantams went on their first power play midway through the second period, but the Ephs' penalty kill unit, with goaltender Erin Pye in between the pipes, maintained their 3-0 lead (9:13).

- Paige Kehoe of the Bantams cut the lead with a goal as the second period began to wind down (13:59). Soon after the Bantams scored, they once again went on the power play, but it was once again the Ephs' penalty kill unit coming up big for to deny the Bantams (16:00).

- The Bantams gave up two penalties in quick succession during the third period, but the Ephs were unable to capitalize, and the game remained 3-1.

- A Bantams comeback seemed to loom when Martina Exnerova rebounded the puck and scored to cut the Ephs' lead to one (15:28).

- As the game reached the final two minutes, the Bantams pulled their goaltender in a last ditch effort to tie the game. A Trinity  shot was blocked by Rubinshteyn, who took the puck herself the length of the ice to seal the game with an empty netter, putting an exclamation mark on a great 4-2 victory.

After the game, Meghan Gillis, Head Coach of the Ephs, commented, "I thought the team competed hard in practice after a long lay off to get prepared for a talented Trinity team . The game came down to those two quick consecutive goals on the PP and then the 5v5 goal by Chloe Noxon.  We still have work to do to round out our game but I thought there were a lot of positives to build off heading into another challenging opponent in Utica."

Next up for the Ephs is #9 Utica College at home, with puck drop scheduled for 4:30 PM on January 7.
