NESCAC Release
HADLEY, Mass. - After rushing 25 times for 198 yards and one TD during a 37-30 triumph at Bates Saturday afternoon in Lewiston, Maine, senior captain and running back
Jon Oris of the Williams College football team earned NESCAC Offensive Player of the Week honors from the conference office Monday.
"Saturday was another great performance by Jon," said head coach
Mark Raymond. "He has continued to be a main cog in our offense."
Monday's award marks the first time that Oris has earned a weekly NESCAC accolade during his collegiate career. The Ephs (5-1) have earned two conference weekly awards this season, as junior quarterback
Owen Johansen was recognized as Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 22.
Oris averaged an impressive 7.9 yards per carry this past week and ripped open a 92-yard TD run with 5:25 remaining in the fourth quarter, giving Williams a two-score lead over the Bobcats. During his senior season, Oris has rushed 110 times for a team-leading 667 yards on the ground, while his six rushing TDs are tied for the most on the team.
The Ephs will compete against Tufts on Saturday, Oct. 25, at 1:30 p.m. in Medford, Massachusetts.
