WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Williams College women's volleyball team showcased its depth Friday evening, as five student-athletes recorded double figures in digs, three posted 12 or more kills and two finished with double-digit assists during a 3-1 victory over Hamilton at Chandler Gymnasium.
Prior to the match, the Ephs (17-6, 6-3 NESCAC) celebrated their four-person senior class in
Kami Israelski (15 digs),
Sydney Eyestone,
Annaliese Fricke (12 kills) and
Helen Qian (12 kills). Three different Ephs compiled double-doubles, featuring sophomore
Lilly Carstens (match-high 23 assists, 10 digs), sophomore
Kate Lane (match-best 13 kills, 10 digs) and junior
Morgan Daetz (19 assists, 10 digs). First-year
Eve Kaplan tallied 20 or more digs for the fourth time this season, as she led all student-athletes with 21, to go along with nine assists.
The Continentals (7-11, 1-8 NESCAC) earned a 25-20 opening-set win on a game-clinching kill by Grace Seaman (11 kills). Hamilton led the second set, 16-15, but the Ephs answered the call and took a 24-20 lead on a kill by Qian. A kill by Fricke secured a 25-23 win and evened the sets at 1-1.
In the third set, Hamilton once again developed a late lead at 19-17, but Williams scored eight of the next 12 points, earning a 25-23 victory thanks to block assists by Qian and Fricke. The fourth set was tied at 11-11, but the hosts scored five consecutive points and went in front, 20-12, on a kill by Lane. Sophomore
Chi Obi provided the match-clinching kill in a 25-20 triumph.
The Ephs will close out the regular season with a 2 p.m. matchup against Little Three-rival Amherst Saturday in Chandler Gymnasium.
