Williams advances to NESCAC Semifinals with 3-0 win over Bowdoin

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Williams College women's soccer team advanced to the NESCAC Semifinals after defeating Bowdoin 3-0 at home on Saturday afternoon.

Both teams were held scoreless in the first half, but the Ephs maintained a dominate offensive presence, outshooting the Polar Bears 12-1 and placing five shots on goal to Bowdoin's one.

Elizabeth Stophel broke the deadlock in the 58th minute, rolling a shot from the top of the box that slipped past the goalkeeper into the bottom right corner for the Ephs to take a 1-0 lead.

Piper Dupies extended the Ephs' lead in the 74th minute, firing a shot from the top corner of the box that sailed just over the goalkeeper and into the top right corner, marking her first goal of the season and giving Williams a 2-0 advantage.

Isabel Konijnenberg sealed the victory for the Ephs in the 78th minute, with a perfectly placed corner kick that curved into the back left corner, securing a 3-0 win for Williams and also getting her first goal of the season.

The Ephs controlled the game from start to finish with a dominant offensive performance, outshooting Bowdoin 25-5 and holding a commanding 13-2 edge in shots on goal.

Stophel led the Ephs' attack, recording four shots with three on goal, including one goal, while Konijnenberg added three shots, all on target, also finding the back of the net.

Williams will return to action in the NESCAC Semifinals on Saturday, Nov. 8, with their opponent and kickoff time to be announced.
