Men’s hockey opens season in loss at Colby

WATERVILLE, Maine - The Williams College men's hockey team dropped a 3-0 result at Colby College on Friday night in the first action of the 2025-26 season for both teams.

The Ephs had played well through two periods but the Mules were able to pull away in the third, scoring all three of their goals in the final period. Williams had 27 shots on goal compared to 25 for Colby in what was an even game for the majority of action.

Kael DePape made 22 saves in goal for Williams, and while the defense held firm for most of the game, the offense couldn't find a way through Colby. The Mules scored their first 2:50 into the third period, added a second just over three minutes later, and iced the game with a third goal with 4:34 remaining in the game.

Jake McManus led the Ephs with five shots on goal, ahead of Conner Fitzpatrick and David Vieten, who each had three.

The Ephs will look to bounce back quickly on Saturday as the team continues its swing through Maine, facing off against Bowdoin at 3pm in Brunswick.
