Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Ephs suffer 1-0 setback to No. 2 Amherst

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Senior goaltender Erin Pye stopped 37-of-38 shots for the Williams College women's ice hockey team during a 1-0 loss against No. 2-ranked Amherst Saturday afternoon in Lansing Chapman Rink.

"The team battled really hard again today," said head coach Meghan Gillis. "Erin kept us in the game and we had multiple chances to tie it up and are excited to build off this moving forward."

The Mammoths (1-0-1, 1-0-1 NESCAC) took advantage of their lone power play, as Gretchen Dann scored a coast-to-coast goal with 17:02 remaining in the second period.

With 7:27 remaining in the third period, sophomore Charlotte Fetherston ripped a shot from the slot, but the attempt rang the post. Fetherston led the way for the Ephs (0-1-1, 0-1-1 NESCAC) with a game-high seven shots, while seniors Lucie Bond and Chloe Noxon each attempted five. Senior Leah Rubinshteyn finished with five shots and blocked three shots.

The Ephs compete against Norwich Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. in Lansing Chapman Rink.
