BABSON PARK, Mass. - The Williams College men's ice hockey team returned from Thanksgiving to a difficult task on Saturday, facing off against #11-ranked Babson College on Saturday afternoon.
After tying the game at two early in the third period, the hosts were able to score two quick goals and hold off the Ephs for the rest of regulation, and the Beavers came away with a 4-2 win.
Babson scored the game's first goal at the 9:21 mark of the first period, and extended its lead on the power play early in the second period.
The Ephs pulled a goal back at 5:28 of the second, with senior defenseman Liam Jones scoring the first goal of his career, with assists going to Nate Heithoff and Connor Berg. Early in the third period the Ephs were able to tie the game on the power play, with junior Brady Welsch continuing his hot streak and scoring his sixth goal in three games, with assists to Jared Lambright and Berg.
The hosts struck back at the 6:10 mark of the third, taking a 3-2 lead, and then put the game out of reach with another goal at 8:48. The rest of the period was fairly even, with the Ephs putting a total of 11 shots on goal in the third compared to Babson's 12.
Williams comes back home on Sunday with a game against another ranked team, this time facing #9 SUNY Geneseo at 3pm at Lansing Chapman Rink.
