Williams Starts Off Home Weekend With Strong Victory Over Conn College

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – The Williams College Ephs (7-8-2) took a commanding lead to start off this weekend's pair of games against the Connecticut College Camels (6-10-1). Despite a late effort from Connecticut College, the Ephs capitalized on their chances and lead the game the entire night. This was the best way the Ephs wanted to start off Alumni Weekend at home.

The first period was all Ephs. The first goal would come off the stick of first year Rowan Heithoff who has been having a tremendous first season. Williams still wanted more, and their second goal came only minutes later from another first year, Jake McManus, who received a perfect pass from William Yee to put the Ephs up by 2. Only 65 seconds later Trevor O'Brien found Connor Berg who tore up the ice to give Williams a 3-0 lead.

Moving into the second period, there wouldn't be any goals for or against. Both teams started to settle down as they began battling for position up and down the ice. There would be penalties on both sides, but still neither team could capitalize on their chances.

The third period saw the most action of the night. Connecticut started off the scoring, but Williams soon responded. The Williams penalty kill has been tremendous this year, and they showcased their ability tonight. Owen Stadheim made an amazing individual effort to control the puck in the offensive zone finding Connor Berg in the high slot. Berg, moving down into the slot, slipped a perfect pass backdoor for Brady Welsch to give the Ephs their strong lead back. With an empty net goal rounding out the night from David Vieten, the Ephs would find themselves walking away with a 5-3 victory.
