Ephs Fall 2-1 to Camels in Overtime

Williamstown, MA - The Williams College Ephs (9-8-1, 3-7-1 NESCAC) fell to the Connecticut College Camels by a score of 2-1 (9-9-1, 5-7-1 NESCAC) in a tight overtime game. 

By the Numbers

  • The Ephs were 1/4 on the power play while the Camels were 1/2.
  • Both squads combined for eight penalties. 
  • The Ephs outshot the Camels 27-23.

Game Recap

  • The Camels went onto the power play early into the contest, but the Ephs denied the away side, holding the game at 0-0 (6:37).
  • A little over halfway through the period the Ephs went on their first power play of the game, but they were unable to capitalize (14:34).
  • The Camels struck first in the contest, with Casey Chesner bringing the score to 1-0 (15:50).
  • The Ephs started the second period off strong, recording a number of shots en route to a power play opportunity. Despite a number of great looks, they were unable to score (4:04).
  • The Ephs' offensive strength continued, and they earned another power play later in the period; the first-year duo of Annie Gallagher and Charlotte Fetherson contributed impressive plays, but the game remained at 1-0 after the power play (14:27).
  • The Ephs received yet another power play chance as the third period started, and this time they were able to capitalize: Maddie Zack found Lucie Bond in the high circle for the one-timer wrist shot score to tie the game at 1-1 (2:23).
  • Dramatics ensued as the period was coming to an end: the Ephs were assigned a five minute major penalty and a game misconduct penalty, while the Camels were given a tripping penalty, leading to a 4-on-4 finish in regulation time (16:46).
  • Overtime was 4-on-3 in favor of the Camels—Serena Seiple buried a shot top left past Erin Pye to secure the overtime win for the Camels.  

Eph head Coach Meghan Gillis commented after the game, "I thought we had good systems in place but didn't execute at Ephs hockey standards."

The Ephs will face the Camels again tomorrow afternoon, with puck drop schedule for 3PM.
