GREENSBORO, NC – The Ephwomen wrapped up a great meet on the final day of the national championship. With some more best times and clean dives, they finished in __ place in the team standings.
In the first event of the evening session,
Lily Codd kicked off the Ephwomen in the 1650 freestyle. Codd had a very consistent swim, touching 7th overall with a time of 16:53.04. This was a great swim for Codd to close out her junior year.
Irene Yang kicked off the 200 backstroke consolation final for the Ephwomen. This was Yang's final individual event of the meet as she finished 16th in a time of 2:03.10. Then, already two time NCAA champion,
Sophia Verkleeren came in as the top seed in the 200 backstroke. In a tight race against New England rival Kate Augustyn until the very end, Verkleeren touched second in a lifetime best time of 1:56.68.
Alden White and
Clementine Robins also swam this event in the morning session finishing 18th (2:02.12) and 25th (2:03.00) respectively.
Carter Roebuck qualified this morning for the consolation final of the 200 breaststroke. Surging in the last 25 of the race, Roebuck touched first in the heat in a time of 2:16.39. After,
Charlotte Wishnack came in as the second seed in the 200 breaststroke in tonight's championship final. With her long strokes and quick back half, Wishnack swam a new lifetime best time in a 2:12.37.
In the afternoon diving session,
Adelaide Herman competed in her last 3 meter competition of her career. With a final score of 398.70, Herman placed 21st overall. This was highlighted by Herman's stunning Inward 2 1/2 Somersault Tuck (405C) which scored 52.65 points.
The final event of the night consisted of the 400 freestyle relay. The squad of
Irene Yang,
Carter Roebuck,
Sophia Verkleeren, and
Emma Dimter took on the competition for the last time of the season for the Ephwomen. Yang swam the first leg and took the relay out in a 52.10 followed by Roebuck with her 51.43. Dimter then blasted a 51.47 for the third leg of the race catching up with the front of the pack. Verkleeren finished the relay off with her final collegiate race ever in the anchor leg, swimming a split of 51.39. The team finished 12th overall in a 3:26.39.
The Ephwomen finished a strong and well fought 4 days of swimming and diving 6th in the team standings and have a lot to be proud of as there were endless best times and All American statuses. This concludes the 2024-25 season for the Williams Swim and dive team.
