Final Day of NCAAs Features Blistering Finish for Keelan Durham's Final Collegiate Race

Hanover, NH – What was expected to be a blistering race on fast, frozen corduroy was unexpectedly changed for the final day of the NCAA championship. A coating of fine natural snow turned the course into a mix of sugary snow and fresh flakes that made for a grind fest of epic proportions. The weather aside from being blustery at times–was a beautiful blue day that continued the great weather that Dartmouth has enjoyed while they hosting this season's championship.

The race today was longer: a 20k skate mass start that traversed 6 laps of a 3.3 kilometer course. Large crowds of supporters made up of teammates, ski alums, fellow students, and other spectators made for an exciting race no matter where on the course the athletes were. Music and cheers spurred on the athletes as they put it all out on the line for the final race of the season.

All expectations for an action packed race were instantly met as the men started, instantly dissecting the field into a series of lone athletes fighting their way as the leaders kept the foot firmly on the gas throughout the entire race; it was a true testament of grit and determination.

Senior Keelan Durham didn't disappoint, skiing consistently with those around him, staying in the top thirty the entire race. Six powerful laps later Durham finished the day in 28th, adding another impressive result to crown an impressive four years of racing for the Ephs.

From here Durham is looking at continuing to race next year once he graduates from Williams. Not only has Durham been a reliable contributor to the team's results, consistently placing among the top skiers in the east, he has led the team to its current strength through continual exemplifications of commitment and passion. He, along with all the Eph seniors, will be missed next year.

To continue to follow the Ephs as they close out this championship season, watch out for first-years Quinn McDermott and Cole Bothner as they throw down at Junior Nationals hosted by Soldier Hollow in Park City, Utah this coming week.
