Ephs Erupt for 23 Runs in Comeback Win Over Bard

Williamstown, Mass -  After falling behind 7–3 in the top of the third inning, the Williams College baseball team stormed back with 16 runs en route to a 23–9 victory over Bard College  at Bobby Coombs Field.

The Raptors jumped ahead early, capitalizing on a pair of Eph errors and timely hitting to put up a crooked number in the third. DH K. Palleschi ripped a run-scoring double, S. Dumper followed with an RBI single, and J. Famularo added a two-run single as Bard plated seven runs in the first three innings — five of them unearned — to take a 7–3 lead.

But from that point forward, it was all Williams. The Ephs' offense exploded for runs in six consecutive innings, hammering out 20 hits and drawing six walks while showing off their power and depth throughout the lineup. After Bard's third-inning surge, Williams responded with two runs of their own in the bottom half, thanks to Luca Lopetrone, smashing a two-run homer to cut the deficit to 7–5.

From there, Williams took over the game with a relentless offensive push that saw them score in six consecutive innings and blow the game wide open. The turning point came in the fourth, when Will Scott lined a double to center and sent Ryan Nakajima home to tie the game. From there, the Ephs took control, piling on five runs in the fifth and another four in the sixth to bury Bard under a barrage of hits and smart situational baseball.

The Ephs lineup was locked in from top to bottom. They combined aggressive base running, timely hitting, and disciplined at-bats to keep pressure on the Bard defense. Well-placed doubles, sacrifice flies, and heads-up base running kept the runs coming. Junior Sasha Palma sparked multiple rallies from the bottom of the order. Nearly every Williams player had a hand in the scoring, with some notable performances by Ryan Nakajima, who went 3-5 with 5 RBI's, James O'Connor, who contributed 3 RBI', and Will Scott who had two doubles on the day.

While the bats were booming, Max Hart stepped up on the mound to steady the game. The senior entered in the third and shut down the Raptors for over four innings, giving the Ephs the chance to surge ahead. Oliver Rey and Grant Greiner closed things out with clean frames in the final two innings.

By the time it ended, Williams had turned an early hole into a 23–9 statement win, their highest run total of the season. After the game Eph head coach Bill Barralle was thrilled with his team's performance, especially their offensive dominance, saying " It was awesome to have the offense come together the way it did today." He was also thrilled with the work of his senior pitcher, Max Hart, call his performance today " Lights out".

Ephs now sit at 13-12 on the season. They look to continue this momentum with another game tomorrow at home versus Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, starting at 4 P.M
