Williamstown, MA — Williams Women's Crew has secured its 20th bid to compete at the NCAA DIII Rowing Championship, the
selection show announced today.
Women's crew will send its varsity eight and second varsity eight to compete at Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J., on May 30 and 31. The other seven teams attending the NCAA championship include Bates, Ithaca, St. Mary's, Tufts, Pacific Lutheran, Wellesley, and Williams. The Williams 1V is currently seeded second, behind first-seed Tufts, and the Williams 2V is seeded third, behind first-seed Tufts and second-seed Wesleyan.
In the 1V's heat race, the crew will face St Mary's, Wesleyan, and Wellesley, and in the 2V's heat race, the crew will face St. Mary's, Wesleyan, and Ithaca. Both boats need to finish first or second in their heats to qualify for the grand final race.
Attending this year's championship marks the fourth consecutive year the Ephs have competed at NCAAs.
"We are so proud of the work the whole team has put in to get us selected for the NCAAs," head coach
Paula Thoms said. "There is more speed to be created over the next two and a half weeks and we're excited to get back to work."
