HARTFORD, Conn.
— The Williams College women's basketball team fell to No. 18 Trinity College, 76–63, on Saturday afternoon. The loss evened the Ephs' NESCAC record at 1–1 and their overall record at 7–7.
Williams trailed 42–30 at the half but battled throughout the second half, cutting into the deficit on multiple occasions. The Bantams, however, held firm down the stretch to secure the home victory.
As a team, the Ephs shot 40.3% from the field and went 3-of-7 from beyond the arc, while also generating 24 bench points. Williams totaled 32 rebounds and forced turnovers that resulted in 12 points.
Kathleen Smith led the Ephs with 12 points and nine rebounds, shooting 6-of-11 from the floor.
Logan Coster and
Evelyn Walcott also finished with 12 points apiece, with both players adding five rebounds.
Micah Walton added 11 points on 5-of-13 shooting, while
Hanorah Murphy contributed seven points and
Skylar Chui chipped in six.
Trinity was led by a balanced offensive effort, with Kiki Fossbender scoring 21 points, Avery Marzo adding 17, and Marlo Simms contributing 13.
Williams will return home for its next NESCAC matchup when it hosts Tufts on Friday night.
