WILLIAMSTOWN, MA — The Williams College women's basketball team picked up a 55–37 victory over Connecticut College on Saturday afternoon at Chandler Athletic Center in NESCAC play.
With the win, the Ephs improved to 9–7 overall and 3–1 in conference action, while the Camels fell to 10–7 and 1–3 in league competition.
Williams led from the opening tip, controlling the pace and building a steady advantage throughout the afternoon. The Ephs outscored Connecticut College in each quarter, taking a 23–14 lead into halftime and extending the margin by outscoring the Camels 32–23 in the second half.
Amaya Chase-Luthra led the Ephs with 14 points, shooting 5-for-8 from the field and knocking down a three, while also going 3-for-3 from the free-throw line.
Micah Walton added 12 points, including a pair of three-pointers, and
Kathleen Smith chipped in 10 points and a team high of 13 rebounds to record her fifth double-double of the season.
Sarah Pettegrove contributed five points, six rebounds, and four assists, while
Tatum Leuenberger and
Logan Coster both added 4 points.
As a team, Williams shot 40.4% from the field and 40.0% from three-point range, while going 5-for-5 at the free-throw line.
Defensively, the Ephs controlled the glass with 40 rebounds and forced 21 Connecticut College turnovers, converting those into 10 points.
Williams' bench added 17 points to the effort, helping sustain the team's lead and providing depth across all four quarters.
The Ephs return to action on Wednesday, January 21, when they host Amherst College at 7:00 p.m. in a Little Three matchup.
