AMHERST, Mass. - The #16 Williams College women's squash team faced off against #10 Amherst College on Wednesday night, with the Ephs earning a pair of wins against a strong team in a 7-2 loss.
Melanie Wang won an epic 3-2 match against her opponent at the #2 spot, coming back from 2-1 down and winning the final game in dramatic fashion. The game scores were 11-9, 6-11, 11-3, 7-11, 9-11. The other Eph to take a victory was Frances Brooks at #4, who had taken a 2-1 lead in games before her opponent was forced to retire due to injury. Rachel Miller took her opponent to the distance at #3, playing five incredibly close games in a 3-2 loss (12-10, 9-11, 11-9, 9-11, 11-8).
The Ephs will be back in action this Saturday against another strong team in #11 Tufts University, followed by a visit to #12 Dartmouth College on February 11. Williams will compete at Hamilton in the NESCAC Championships on February 14-15.
