OSWEGO, N.Y. - First-years Jack Kennedy and Ryan Kearney were named to the All-Tournament Team at the Oswego State Holiday Classic as the Ephs fell 4-2 to Babson College in the championship game, following Friday night's shootout victory over the host Oswego State Lakers.
Saturday's game against #10 Babson was the second-straight game against top-ranked competition, as the Ephs had knocked off #6 Oswego on Friday night. The Beavers were able to take an early lead and then scored a pair of goals early in the third period to put the game out of reach.
Gates Omicioli had another strong game, scoring the Ephs' first goal and assisting on the second, a power-play goal by Jake McManus that brought the game back within a single goal with 11 minutes left in the third period. Connor Berg assisted on Omicioli's goal, and Jackson Krill also assisted on McManus'.
Kael DePape made 28 saves in the effort, and the two first-years - Kearney and Kennedy - named to the Tournament Team played well both on Friday and Saturday against some of the top competition in Division III.Â
The Ephs will return to NESCAC play this coming weekend with a swing through Connecticut, first visiting Wesleyan on Friday before playing Trinity on the road on Saturday. The team's next home game will be on January 17 at Lansing Chapman Rink against Middlebury College.
