MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - The Ephwomen brought the energy on Day 2 of the Middlebury Invitational, opening the meet with a win in the 200 Medley Relay. The team of
Irene Yang ( 26.75),
Anna Doherty (29.88),
Esme Van Orden (25.98) and
Sophie Phelps (23.31) commanded the race from start to finish.
Van Orden and Phelps then went head to head in the 100 butterfly, touching in 58.63 and 58.41 respectively. The 200 freestyle featured many Ephwomen, but was won by
Clare McDermott in a new personal best time of 1:57.85.
Emma Dimter was just behind in 1:57.98.
Isabel Espinosa also had a strong swim, posting a 1:58.34.
Charlotte Brawer went a collegiate best in the 100 breastroke after touching in 1:09.18.
Bernadette Ramoy was just behind in 1:09.27.
Lily Codd and
Kyla Kelley swam the 100 backstroke, touching in 1:00.92 and 1:02.06 respectively.

On the boards,
Ashley Loh posted a personal best score by 47 points, an extremely impressive feat.
In session 3, the Ephs contested the last set of events. The 500 freestyle opened the meet, with
Anna Doherty and
Esme Van Orden racing head to head throughout the entire event. The event was decided narrowly by the last 50, in which Doherty touched first in a 5:11.78 ahead of Van Orden's 5:12.21.
Clementine Robins swam a strong 200 backstroke, touching under 2:10 in a 2:09.85.
Irene Yang finished highest for the Ephs in the 100 freestyle, posting a 54.56.
Sophie Phelps posted a best time in the 200 breastroke (2:23.65), an event she doesn't typically swim.
Charlotte Brawer touched second in 2:29.14.
Clare McDermott concluded the individual events with a personal best in the 200 butterfly, touching the wall in a 2:06.93. This was a massive drop for McDermott.
The 400 freestyle relay was won by
Emma Dimter (53.79),
Sophie Phelps (52.78),
Esme Van Orden (52.81) and
Irene Yang (53.32).
The Ephs now turn the page and look to defend the NESCAC Championship title at Wesleyan in just under two weeks.
