WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — After powering their respective programs to tremendous weeks, junior forward Elizabeth Stophel of the Williams College women's soccer team and senior captain Duncan DeProfio of the men's cross country program were named Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Ephs of the Week Tuesday afternoon.

Stophel of the No. 8-ranked women's soccer team powered the Ephs (10-2-0, 7-1-0 NESCAC) to a perfect 3-0-0 week. She scored the game-winning goal during the 20th minute in a 6-0 triumph against University of Southern Maine Sunday afternoon on senior day at Cole Field.

She orchestrated the Ephs' first two goals on Saturday afternoon during a 3-1 win at No. 23 Wesleyan in Middletown, Connecticut. During the second minute, Stophel entered the 18-yard box on the right side. She proceeded to send a ball across the front of the net, and then after a failed Wesleyan clear, sophomore midfielder Lucy Carrel buried her fourth goal of the season. During the fourth minute, Stophel made a run down the right attacking side and established position in the same area of the box. Her cross this time around was deflected by a Wesleyan defender into the back of the net and the sequence was scored as an own goal, giving the visitors a 2-0 lead.

During a 2-0 win at Farmingdale State on Monday, Stophel slid a pass into the middle of the 18-yard box in the 58th minute, and then senior captain Bria Abbiati buried a turnaround shot into the bottom left corner, giving the unit a 2-0 advantage.

In his final collegiate race Saturday at Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford, Connecticut, DeProfio placed 15th overall with a personal-best time of 25:43.8 on the 8-kilometer course, after surging 14 spots in the final kilometer. Beyond his performance on the course, DeProfio has been a consistently positive and supportive teammate and a fantastic captain, always celebrating his teammates' success and prioritizing their well-being. His leadership and positivity have made a lasting impact on the Ephs on and off the course.
