#5 Ephs Score 2-0 Win on Senior Day

The Williams College field hockey team recorded a pair of second-half goals

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — It was a senior day to remember for Madeline Rowland, Haley McAuslin and Claire Colvin on Saturday afternoon, as all three tallied at least one point for the fifth-ranked Williams College field hockey team during a 2-0 victory over Connecticut College on Williamson Field.

Prior to the game, the Ephs (7-2, 4-2 NESCAC) honored their outstanding eight-person senior class, featuring Laura Ryan, Keira Harder, Tess Everett, Aggie Ryan, Miriam Silver, Rowland, McAuslin and Colvin. The tremendous group powered Williams to the Final Four of the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2024, while finishing as the NESCAC runner-up in 2023.

During the 34th minute Saturday, junior midfielder Sienna Alday led Colvin into the left side of the circle with a pass. Colvin sent the ball right in front of the goal, and then Rowland did the rest, burying her ninth collegiate goal and third game-winning tally.

McAuslin gave the hosts some breathing room with 6:22 remaining in the fourth quarter. First-year midfielder and forward Kayla Bohlin got the play rolling, as she won a 50-50 ball and proceeded into the circle. She slid a pass to McAuslin, and then the Cumberland, Maine, native slammed a low shot past the goalkeeper for a 2-0 advantage. Bohlin picked up her first collegiate point with an assist on the scoring sequence.

Goalie Ellie Smith earned her 31st collegiate victory and 16th shutout, improving to 7-1 on the season with a three-save performance. Goalkeeper Isabella Carnall made 12 saves for the Camels (2-6, 0-6 NESCAC).

Williams held a 32-5 advantage in total shots, to go along with a 14-3 lead in shots on goal. McAuslin led all student-athletes with 10 total shots and four on target. The Ephs attempted 13 penalty corners and the Camels were awarded three.

The Ephs compete against Roger Williams Friday at 6 p.m. on Williamson Field.
