Ephs Sweep NESCAC Weekend

WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS. — The Williams College volleyball team carried their momentum from Friday night's statement victory over No. 2 Colby into Saturday afternoon, defeating Bowdoin, 3-1, in Chandler Gymnasium to complete a perfect 2-0 NESCAC weekend.

The Ephs took the first two sets, 25-21 and 25-23, before Bowdoin responded back with a 25-22 third-set win. Williams answered with a 25-16 fourth set victory to close out the match.
With the win, Williams improves to 10-4 overall and 3-1 in NESCAC play.

The Ephs came out strong, battling Bowdoin through a tightly contested opening set before pulling away late to secure a 25-21 win. Williams continued to apply pressure in the second, holding off a late Bowdoin push to take the set, 25-23, and move within one set of the match.

Bowdoin responded in the third, taking a 22-25 win to force a fourth set. Williams quickly put the setback behind them, dominating the final frame and pulling away for a 25-16 victory to secure the weekend sweep.

Chidimma Obi powered the Ephs offensively with 15 kills while hitting .375, adding eight digs and four blocks. Adalena Rodgers followed with 10 kills and 13 digs, while Keely Campuzano added seven kills.

Morgan Daetz led the Williams offense with 24 assists, while Lilly Carstens contributed 15 assists. Eve Kaplan anchored the back row with a team-high 17 digs, and Rodgers added 13.

The Ephs also controlled the match at the net, recording 13 blocks to Bowdoin's seven. Elsa Miller led the way with nine blocks, including two solo blocks and seven block assists, while Maya Thompson and Kate Lane each added four blocks.

Thompson recorded a career-high five service aces. Daetz and Ellie Simons each added two aces as the Ephs finished with 10 on the afternoon.

After a statement win over No. 2 Colby and a four-set victory over Bowdoin, the Ephs head into another crucial NESCAC weekend with plenty of momentum.

Williams returns to Chandler Gymnasium next Friday, Oct. 9, for Senior Night against Hamilton at 7 p.m.
