NEW LONDON, Conn. - On the final day of the Regional Championships Saturday,
Haochen Liu and
Calder Biondi of the Williams College men's swimming & diving team punched their tickets to the NCAA Division III Championships.
This morning, Biondi placed third on the 1-meter board. This was his second third-place finish of the weekend, which is enough to qualify for the national championship.
Liu was just behind Biondi with a fourth-place finish on the 1 meter after placing second on the 3 meter yesterday. Liu scored 441.75 after his 11 dives with an average score of 6.74, the highest amongst the competition. Biondi scored 470.85 points, narrowly missing second place by 1.75 points.
The duo finished high on both boards enough weekends in 2025-26, a testament to the dominance they have competed with all season long. Now, they will turn their heads to the national championship under two-time 2025 NCAA Champion Head Coach
Trent Makowiec.
Junior Ashley Loh also had a strong competition today on the 3-meter boards, alongside 26 incredible divers in the region. Loh has significantly increased the difficulty of her list and will look to continue her strides in the 2026-27 season.
