Ephs suffer 3-1 setback to Trinity

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Junior forward Brady Welsch of the Williams College men's ice hockey team scored his ninth goal of the season, which are tied for the most on the team, Saturday afternoon during a 3-1 loss to Trinity in NESCAC action at Lansing Chapman Rink.

The Bantams (10-9-1, 4-9-1 NESCAC) scored twice in the first, as Weston Turner buried a shot 6:22 into the period and Will Diamond found the back of the net at the 12:39 mark. Goaltender Devon Bobak made 31 saves for Trinity.

The Ephs came out strong to start the second, as sophomore defender William Yee and first-year forward Jackson Krill played catch in the offensive zone. Yee proceeded to send a shot from the point toward net and the attempt was redirected into the back of the goal by Welsch at the 2:07 mark. Junior goaltender Harrison Fogel turned aside 27 shots for the Ephs.

Brendan Dumas sealed the win for the visitors on an empty-net tally with 1:45 left in the third. Williams held a 32-30 advantage in shots on goal and both teams finished 0 for 3 on the power play. Senior forward and assistant captain Trevor O'Brien finished 6-2 on faceoffs.

The Ephs compete at Middlebury Saturday at 2 p.m.
