MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - Junior goaltender
Harrison Fogel made a career-high 41 saves and senior assistant captain
Trevor O'Brien registered a two-assist performance for the Williams College men's ice hockey team Saturday afternoon, as the Ephs scored a pair of third-period goals to overcome a one-goal deficit in a 2-1 victory at Middlebury.
Fogel recorded a tremendous .976 save percentage for the Ephs (8-12-2, 7-9-0 NESCAC). Williams has won three of its last four conference games, earning a 5-4 overtime win at Tufts on Jan. 31 and defeating Wesleyan, 4-1, at Lansing Chapman Rink on Feb. 6. The Ephs currently sit in sixth place in the NESCAC standings with 21 points.
Max Noll opened the scoring for the Panthers (12-7-3, 8-6-2 NESCAC), finding the back of the net at the 11:35 mark of the second period. Middlebury held a 42-27 advantage in shots on goal. The Ephs went 4 for 4 on the penalty kill and sophomore forward
Jake McManus went 12-9 in the faceoff circle.
In the third, sophomore defenseman
William Yee carried the puck into the Ephs' offensive zone. O'Brien received a pass from Yee, and then slid the puck over to senior forward
Ziv Deener-Chodirker, who beat the goalie cleanly by way of a wrist shot from the slot with 13:27 left. O'Brien proceeded to win a faceoff to sophomore defenseman
Grant Fuchsen, and then the puck found its way onto the stick of first-year
Wilson Farrow. The defender scored his first collegiate game-winning goal on a shot from the left point with 7:56 on the scoreboard.
The Ephs will compete against No. 2-ranked Hamilton Friday at 7 p.m. in Clinton, New York.
