MIDWAY, Utah - Williams College sophomore Quinn McDermott had his first taste of NCAA Championship competition on Thursday in the 7.5 individual classic, facing the top Nordic racers in collegiate skiing in warm temperatures in Midway, Utah.
Dartmouth's John Hagenbuch won the event, followed by 10 racers from the west region as the skiers battled the clock, the warm conditions, and the altitude in a challenging day on the course. McDermott finished in 39th position with a time of 21:04.
The Williamstown native will be back in action on Saturday for the 20km mass start freestyle.
