Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men’s lacrosse drops one-goal game at Amherst

AMHERST, Mass. - The Williams College men's lacrosse team lost a narrow 10-9 game at Amherst College on Saturday afternoon. The Ephs scored with 13 seconds remaining to narrow the lead but could not gain control of the ensuing faceoff to get a final chance to tie the game.

The Ephs were led by Ryan Nagle, who had three goals, and Will Doran, who had two goals and two assists. Ryan Johnson and Andrew Johnson each had two assists as well, with Ryan Johnson adding a goal, and Ian Kim, Cade Schuckman, and Jack Sartorius each scored a single goal. Charlie Medd made an impressive 15 saves in goal for Williams.

Saturday's game was a battle throughout, and a defensive battle, especially in the first half. Each team scored twice in the first quarter, with only one goal from Doran in the first ten minutes of the game. The Mammoths went into the half with a 4-3 lead, but neither team scored in the final ten minutes of the half.

The third quarter swung the momentum in favor of the visiting Ephs, who scored twice in a second-second span to take a 5-4 lead, and had extended their advantage to 8-6 by the end of the third. Amherst was able to take back control in the fourth, scoring four straight to go up 10-8 before the late Ephs goal narrowed the lead.

The Ephs will visit Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Tuesday evening in the team's next game, before returning home next weekend for a 1pm start on Saturday, April 18 against Wesleyan University on Farley-Lamb Field.
