WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The No. 16-ranked Williams College men's tennis team went 15-0 in sets and 90-23 in games during a 7-0 victory against Trinity Sunday afternoon at the Hunt Tennis Center.
Senior captains
Simon Volkema and
Nicholas Chen went 2-0 on the day for the Ephs (8-3, 5-1 NESCAC), while sophomore
Robert Cooper Jr. and first-years
William Luke and
Anthony Lim also emerged victorious during singles and doubles action against the Bantams (4-10, 1-6 NESCAC).
The Ephs won all three doubles matches to secure the one point. Volkema and Chen won at the top position, 6-3, and then Luke and sophomore
Carter Fayard posted a 6-3 victory at the second position. During No. 3 doubles, Lim and Cooper Jr. teamed up for a 6-3 triumph.
Volkema (6-4, 6-1), Chen (6-1, 6-0), Luke (6-0, 6-0), Lim (6-3, 6-0), Cooper Jr. (6-0, 6-1) and sophomore
Jack Ling (6-2, 6-2) won at the No. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 singles positions, respectively.
Williams competes against No. 44 Hamilton Saturday at 1 p.m. in Clinton, New York.
