WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Junior pitchers
Katie Blanch and
Natalie Carter threw a combined seven scoreless innings for the Williams College softball team during a 2-0 non-conference triumph over Smith Wednesday afternoon at Cole Field.
Carter earned her second victory of the season for the Ephs (18-12, 7-3 NESCAC), working the final four innings, as she retired the side in order during the fourth. Blanch pitched the first three innings for the hosts and did not give up a single hit. Sophie Hasegawa (2 for 3, one double) led the way for the Bears (15-14, 7-5 NEWMAC).
The Ephs scored twice during the bottom of the fourth, as first-year
Miya Fujimoto scored the winning run on a throwing error by the catcher. Blanch gave Williams some breathing room, with her sacrifice fly to deep right scoring senior

Haley Barrett and Miller finished with one hit, respectively. The Ephs turned an outstanding 4-6-3 double play to end the top of the sixth, as Borrazzo fielded a sharply hit ball, and then flipped to Blanch, who proceeded to throw a rocket to junior
Justine Dunaway.
The Ephs compete against Middlebury in a doubleheader Saturday, with game times set for noon and 2 p.m. on Cole Field.
