WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Ephs women's lacrosse team carried a 13-0 lead into halftime and finished with a 19-4 win over the Westfield State Owls on Tuesday evening, as the team heads into a tough road test on Wednesday at Hamilton College.
Williams, ranked 19th in the most recent poll, scored ten goals in the first quarter and added three more in the second quarter without conceding to Westfield, en route to their eighth win of the season.
Three Ephs finished with hat tricks: team leading scorer
Franny Donohue, who scored all three of hers in the first quarter,
Cece Tauber, who completed her trio of goals just 1:20 into the second quarter, and
Sydney Puntus, whose hat-trick was the first of her career.
Reece Willison and
Ella Ryan each scored two goals, and six Ephs scored once:
Ainsley Abel,
Mo Balogun,
Liv Kim,
Mia Kincade,
Allison Lee, and
CeCe Upton. For Kim and Upton, their goals were the first of the season for each, and for Upton, a first-year, it was her first collegiate goal.
Seven Williams players also had assists in the game, led by Donohue with three, Kincade and Ryan with two each, and Balogun, Puntus, Willison and
McKenna Dwyer each had one. In goal,
Charlotte Cote made four saves in the first half, and
Savoy McMahon made one in the second.
The Ephs will hit the road on Wednesday for an important NESCAC match-up at Hamilton College starting at 6:00 p.m.
