Ephs Advance to NESCAC Semifinals

BRUNSWICK, ME. - The Williams College softball team defeated No. 4 seed Bowdoin, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon to advance to the NESCAC Semifinals.

After a scoreless start to the contest, the Ephs broke through in the third inning, as Lauren Davis started the rally with a single up the middle before Williams loaded the bases with a pair of hit batters. Dani Jackman then drew a bases-loaded walk to bring home Davis and give the Ephs a 1-0 advantage.

Williams added an important insurance run in the fifth inning, as Haley Barrett singled to left field to score Justine Dunaway and take a 2-0 lead.

Bowdoin answered in the sixth with an RBI single to cut the deficit to one, but the Ephs held firm defensively to secure the 2-1 victory.

At the plate, Davis led the Ephs with a 2-for-3 performance, while Barrett finished 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Sadie Leonard earned their 15th win of the season in the circle, tossing a complete game with nine strikeouts while allowing just four hits.

With the victory, the Ephs advance to the NESCAC Semifinals, where they will take on No. 1 seed Tufts tomorrow morning at 9:30 a.m.
