WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Head coach Marc Mandel and senior captain William Densmore of the third-ranked Williams College men's crew team were named finalists for end-of-year 2026 Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association (IRCA) honors on Monday afternoon.

Mandel is one of four finalists for the Leadership award, while Densmore is joined by two other student-athletes in pursuit of the Comeback Athlete of Year laurel. The winners for the annual honors will be announced on Friday, June 26.

The Leadersip award is given to a coach or administrator who has shown great leadership and become a role model for men's collegiate rowing. The Comeback Athlete of the Year accolade is presented to a student-athlete who has shown significant improvement with perseverance, determination and dedication.

Mandel, who completed his ninth season at the helm of the Ephs' men's crew program during the 2025-26 academic year, has guided Williams to Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Division III National Championships in 2022 and 2023, National Invitational Rowing Championships (NIRC) in 2022 and 2023, NESCAC Championships in 2021, 2022 and 2023, and New England Championships in 2022 and 2023.

During the 2026 spring season, Densmore competed as the seventh seat for the second varsity eight, which took home a gold medal during the IRA National Championship and a silver medal at the NIRC/NESCAC Championship.
