WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Senior captains
Michael LesStrang and
Myer Liebman of the third-ranked Williams College men's crew team were recognized with Empacher-IRCA Division III All-American First Team laurels, while junior
Jack Wagner earned a spot on the Second Team as announced by the Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association Thursday afternoon.
"It is challenging to identify individual performers in a crew of nine or a team of over 40, but Michael, Myer and Jack played pivotal roles in our first boat's bronze-medal performance at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) National Championship," said head coach
Marc Mandel. "Beyond their impact in the boat, they have provided thoughtful leadership and displayed tremendous commitment to our team and the sport of rowing."
Wagner also took home 2026 NESCAC All-Conference First Team laurels. LesStrang, Liebman and Wagner competed on the first varsity eight boat in every regatta this spring. The three outstanding student-athletes earned bronze medals at the IRA National Championship, National Invitational Rowing Championship (NIRC)/NESCAC Championship and New England Championship.
Williams has received an abundance of recognition this week, as 21 Ephs were named Empacher-IRCA Scholar-Athletes Wednesday. On Tuesday, Mandel was named one of four finalists for the IRCA's annual Leadership award, while senior captain
William Densmore is one of three student-athletes in pursuit of the Comeback Athlete of the Year honor. The winners will be announced on Friday, June 26.
