MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Williams College women's cross country team finished in first place at the Aldrich Invitational on Saturday morning. The Ephs recorded a team score of 22 points, as they finished with six runners in the top 10.
Middlebury finished in second with 43 points, followed by Tufts (67), Endicott (127), and St. Michael's (139) to round out the top five.

Kate Tuttle, led the way for the Ephs for the second weekend in a row, winning the individual 6K race in 22:16.2 to average a 5:58.4 mile, followed closely by first year
Sophie Capozzi, as she finished in second place with a time of 22:27.8 in her first collegiate meet.

Clara Gahm crossed the line in fourth place with a time of 22:49.7, first year Eleanor Barco came in seventh place (22:55.7) in her collegiate debut, senior
Julia Brennan in eighth (23:05.5), and sophomore
Estella Laird in 10
th (23:09.7) to round out the Ephs scoring.
"The women looked very strong throughout the race today. Our front group was able to get good position early and run controlled from there," said head coach Dust Lopez. "We also had great efforts from all through the lineup. We're excited to be starting the season strong and will focus on building from here," said Lopez.
The Ephs look forward to next weekend, Sept. 19, as they are set to host the Purple Valley Classic at Mount Greylock Cross Country Loop.
